Paintings by Brian Griffiths
My background is in art and design. I have a degree in Fine Art and a B Phil in Landscape Design. I worked as a Landscape Architect for 10 years before starting my career as a furniture maker in 1987. My furniture is inspired by Macintosh and Shaker furniture and Bauhaus.
I have always painted, even from the early age of 5: oils, acrylics but mainly
watercolours. My interest in botanical art began in 2006 when I saw an exhibition of work by the GSBI at Nature in Art.
My interest in photography really took off when I acquired a digital camera in 2005. My approach to photography is more from a painter’s perspective than straight record shots. I use digital darkroom techniques to produce images of how I perceived the view.
I now run various workshops on photography including Photoshop, studio photography for craftspeople, how to use your digital camera, photographing plants.
