Paintings by Gillian Talbot
Gillian Talbot is a retired teacher who specialises in coloured pencil, watercolour and china painting. Whilst teaching she pursued her childhood passion for painting and advanced her skills by attending many courses. Although she has not had a formal education in art she has expanded her studies at every opportunity and has gained a lot of experience, whilst being taught by many nationally recognised artists. She is always prepared to experiment with various techniques and media. Nature and Gardens have inspired her art and she likes to capture the life of the subjects in their natural settings.
In 2009 Gillian gained a RHS Silver-Gilt medal for her watercolours of Herefordshire Vintage Apples. These led to her being Artist in residence for Berrington Hall National Trust Apple Weekend, Leominster Priory and also Dudmaston Hall NT Apple Day. She has exhibited with many art groups and societies that she belongs to and has also held group exhibitions with fellow flower painters. She has exhibited at the Foal Yard Gallery at Bransford, Worcestershire, Bevere Vivis Gallery, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Nature in Art, several National Trust Properties and Theatres. She is an elected member of the Society of Floral Painters and exhibits nationally with them at many prestigious places. Gillian is a founder member and leads the Welland Floral Painters Group Worcestershire, which meets monthly. Now, she has a reputation for painting flowers and gardens and this has led to numerous private commissions. Gillian’s original paintings have been made into prints and cards which are available for purchase.
